Where Is Mobile Installation Available?

Mobile installation is available only at eligible locations in the contiguous United States. Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico are excluded.

Availability depends on the vehicle, installation address, suitable work area, installer routing and scheduling. Vehicle fitment does not automatically guarantee mobile-service availability.

What Does the Installer Need at Your Location?

The installation does not have to take place at your house. An approved home, business, automotive shop, private workspace or another suitable location may be used.

The installer needs safe vehicle access and enough room to remove body panels, support and open the doors, work around both sides of the Corvette and complete the required adjustments.

Tell Vertical Doors, Inc. before scheduling if the location has gated access, parking restrictions, limited workspace, a steep driveway, restricted vehicle access or another condition that may affect the installation.

Tell Us About Vehicle Modifications Before Scheduling

Modifications or previous body repair can change the installation requirements. Tell us before scheduling if the Corvette has:

• Aftermarket or replacement fenders
• Widebody components or modified bodywork
• Previous collision repair near the door or fender area
• Air-bag suspension
• Wheels measuring 21 inches or larger
• A previous vertical-door or hinge conversion
• Other body or suspension changes that may affect clearance

How Do the Converted Doors Open?

The conversion replaces the factory hinge assemblies while retaining the original Corvette doors.

Open the door outward until it reaches the hinge system's stopping point. From there, raise the door vertically. The gas shock assists with the weight of the door during the upward movement.

You do not have to raise the door every time you enter or exit. The initial outward movement provides room for entry and exit before the door is lifted.

What Happens During the Mobile Installation?

The installer removes the body panels required for access, safely supports the original door, records its position, removes the factory hinge assemblies and installs the vehicle-specific Vertical Doors, Inc. system.

The installation includes wiring-clearance work, required non-visible clearance work, gas-shock installation, hinge adjustment, door and latch alignment and operational testing.

Door movement, hinge stops, gas-shock operation, latch engagement, wiring clearance and surrounding panel gaps are checked before the installation is considered complete.

Does Installation Require Modification?

Yes. This is a vehicle-specific bolt-on hinge conversion, but bolt-on does not mean modification-free.

• The hinge uses the Corvette's factory hinge mounting area.
• The original Corvette doors are retained.
• Body-panel removal is required for installation access.
• Non-visible trimming or clearance work is required as needed so the hinge arm can move properly.
• Wiring must have enough movement and clearance through the complete range of door travel.
