Chevrolet Corvette C8 Guide
The Chevrolet Corvette C8 family now includes several distinct models, and the exact model matters when you are shopping for Vertical Door Kits, ZLR Door Conversions, carbon fiber, aero parts, lighting, interior upgrades, or professional installation.
This guide explains the differences between Stingray, Z06, E-Ray, ZR1, ZR1X, Grand Sport, and Grand Sport X, how trims and body styles fit into the lineup, and which Vertical Doors, Inc. door conversion applies to each confirmed vehicle.
One C8 Family, Several Very Different Corvettes
Part of what makes the C8 such a good platform for customization is that it already looks special before anything is changed. The low roofline, wide stance, short front end, and mid-engine proportions give owners a strong starting point.
A Stingray owner may want a clean street build. A Z06 owner is working with a wider factory body and more aggressive aero. The E-Ray has its own drivetrain and equipment. ZR1 and ZR1X push the C8 farther into high-performance territory, while Grand Sport and Grand Sport X add another direction to the 2027 Corvette family.
Start with the exact Corvette you own, then choose the parts that actually fit it.
Model, Trim, Body Style, and Package: What Is the Difference?
These terms are often mixed together, but they do not mean the same thing. Understanding the difference makes it easier to order the correct part.
| Vehicle Detail | What It Means | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Generation | The overall Corvette generation or platform family. | Corvette C8 |
| Model | The specific Corvette C8 version. | Stingray, Z06, E-Ray, ZR1, ZR1X, Grand Sport, Grand Sport X |
| Trim | The equipment and interior level offered within a model. | 1LT, 2LT, 3LT, 1LZ, 2LZ, 3LZ and other model-specific trims |
| Body Style | The major body configuration of the vehicle. | Coupe or Convertible |
| Package | An equipment, appearance, or performance package added to a model. | Z51, Z07, ZTK and other model-specific packages |
Example: A 2027 Corvette C8 Z06 3LZ is a C8-generation Corvette. Z06 is the model, 3LZ is the trim, and the vehicle may also have additional factory packages or options.
Product fitment should be based on the exact model year, model, body style, package where relevant, and the individual product page.

Corvette C8 Stingray
Current VDI fitment reference: 2020-2027

Vertical Door Kit: VDCCHEVYCORC820
ZLR Door Kit: VDCCHEVYCORZLRC820
Corvette C8 Z06
Current VDI fitment reference: 2023-2027
The C8 Z06 uses a wider factory body and more aggressive performance-focused hardware than the Stingray. Those differences matter when shopping for body, aero, and door-conversion products.
Vertical Door Kit: VDCCHEVYCORC823Z06
ZLR Door Kit: VDCCHEVYCORZLRC820
Corvette C8 E-Ray
Current VDI fitment reference: 2024-2026
The E-Ray combines the C8 platform with electrified all-wheel drive. Its wide-body configuration means buyers should confirm E-Ray compatibility instead of assuming that every Stingray part fits.
Vertical Door Kit: VDCCHEVYCORC823Z06
ZLR Door Kit: VDCCHEVYCORZLRC820
Corvette C8 ZR1
Current VDI fitment reference: 2025-2027
ZR1 pushes the C8 platform farther with model-specific bodywork, cooling, aero, and performance hardware. Parts should be checked specifically for ZR1 compatibility before ordering.
Vertical Door Kit: VDCCHEVYCORC823Z06
ZLR Door Kit: VDCCHEVYCORZLRC820
Corvette C8 ZR1X
Current VDI fitment reference: 2026-2027
ZR1X adds electrified all-wheel drive to the ZR1 side of the C8 family. Because many product applications overlap with ZR1, VerticalDoors.com uses a shared ZR1 and ZR1X collection where fitment is confirmed.

ZLR Door Kit: VDCCHEVYCORZLRC820
2027 Corvette C8 Grand Sport
Current VDI fitment reference: 2027

The ZLR system uses VDCCHEVYCORZLRC820 across the confirmed C8 applications listed in this guide.
Vertical Door Kit or ZLR Door Conversion?
Both systems retain the original Corvette doors, but the opening movement is different.
Traditional Vertical Door Conversion
The traditional Vertical Doors, Inc. system opens the door outward first. Once it reaches the hinge system's stopping point, the door can be raised vertically.
ZLR Door Conversion
The ZLR system moves the door outward and upward diagonally in one continuous motion. The ZLR door does not open rearward.
Corvette C8 Coupe vs. Convertible Fitment
Coupe and Convertible are body styles, not separate Corvette C8 models. A Stingray Coupe and Stingray Convertible are both Stingrays, but some aftermarket products can still have body-style limitations.
This is especially important for products near the roof, rear glass, engine cover, structural trim, or other areas that differ between Coupe and Convertible configurations.
Do not assume a product fits both body styles unless the individual product page confirms it.
Why Exact Fitment Matters for Corvette C8 Parts
A part that fits one C8 model does not automatically fit every other C8. Fender width, bumper design, hood shape, aero, cooling, body configuration, and model-specific hardware can change compatibility.
Product names can also describe the styling rather than the vehicle they fit. A hood or wing labeled "ZR1 style" may be designed for a Stingray, Z06, or E-Ray rather than the factory ZR1 itself.
Before ordering, check:
- Model year
- Exact Corvette C8 model
- Coupe or Convertible when relevant
- Factory package when relevant
- Existing aftermarket bodywork
- Previous collision repair near the installation area
- The Vehicle Fitment section on the individual product page
