Active vertical door kit prototype vehicles wanted

A prototype vehicle allows our engineering and installation team to develop a new vehicle-specific Vertical Door Kit for an application that is not currently available from Vertical Doors, Inc. A listing is a request for a vehicle to evaluate, not a statement that a kit already exists or is guaranteed to enter production.

2024 and newer Dodge Charger, STLA Large generation

We are interested in evaluating the new Dodge Charger generation, including the Charger Daytona and the 2026 Charger SIXPACK. Two-door and four-door models may require separate evaluations. Owners must provide the exact model year, body style, trim, and powertrain when contacting us.

2017 to 2021 Honda Civic Type R, FK8

We are actively seeking the discontinued FK8-generation Honda Civic Type R for prototype development. The FK8 was produced from 2017 through 2021 and is different from the current 2023 and newer FL5-generation Civic Type R. Continued enthusiast ownership and aftermarket interest make the FK8 an application we still want to evaluate.

Possible next-generation Chevrolet Camaro

The sixth-generation Chevrolet Camaro ended production after the 2024 model year. Chevrolet has not officially announced a production successor or confirmed a new model year.

Industry reports citing supplier information indicate that a next-generation Camaro may enter production in late 2027 for a possible 2028 model year. This remains unconfirmed. If Chevrolet officially announces and produces a new Camaro, Vertical Doors, Inc. plans to evaluate the vehicle as a potential future prototype application.

Can every vehicle be converted to vertical doors?

No. A vehicle must have a suitable concealed factory hinge area inside the fender and door jamb. This gives our engineering team a practical location to design and mount a vehicle-specific conversion hinge while retaining the original door.

Prototype vehicle eligibility requirements

Your vehicle may qualify when all of the following apply:

  • The exact year, make, model, trim, and body style match a vehicle we are actively seeking.
  • The factory door hinges are concealed inside the fender and door jamb.
  • The vehicle has no major collision damage or structural repair near the doors, hinges, fenders, or A pillars.
  • Aftermarket fenders, widebody panels, door modifications, and other nearby parts are disclosed before the appointment.
  • The vehicle can be brought to our Lake Elsinore, California facility for the complete prototype appointment.
  • The owner understands that final eligibility depends on an inspection by Vertical Doors, Inc.

Before you submit a prototype request

  • Prototype development normally takes approximately three to four weeks.
  • The vehicle must be delivered to Vertical Doors, Inc. in Lake Elsinore, California, and remain at our facility for the required development period.
  • The vehicle owner is responsible for delivery, pickup, and personal transportation arrangements.
  • Some vehicles may require an in-person inspection before Vertical Doors, Inc. can confirm that prototype development is possible.
  • Initial photos and vehicle information help with preliminary screening, but they do not replace a physical inspection.
  • Development time and costs vary depending on the vehicle's construction, hinge location, body style, trim, condition, modifications, and engineering requirements.
  • Pricing, estimated completion time, and prototype terms will be reviewed with the owner before work begins.
  • The vehicle must not have undisclosed collision damage, structural repairs, aftermarket fenders, widebody modifications, or previous door modifications.
  • Submitting a request does not guarantee that the vehicle will be accepted.
  • Accepting a vehicle for evaluation does not guarantee that a production Vertical Door Kit will be released.
  • Do not deliver a vehicle without a confirmed appointment and written authorization from Vertical Doors, Inc.

Required prototype acknowledgement

I understand that prototype development normally takes approximately three to four weeks. If my vehicle is accepted, it must be delivered to and remain at Vertical Doors, Inc. in Lake Elsinore, California, for the required development period. I understand that additional inspection may be required before Vertical Doors, Inc. can confirm feasibility, pricing, timing, or acceptance. Submitting this request does not guarantee that my vehicle will be accepted or that a production kit will be released.

How the prototype process works

  1. Contact us. Call 951.245.8669 during business hours, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Pacific Time, or submit your vehicle through our online form.
  2. Provide complete vehicle details. Send the exact year, make, model, trim, body style, powertrain, location, and clear photos of the vehicle, door jamb, factory hinges, and front fender area.
  3. Complete a preliminary review. Our team will determine whether the vehicle appears to meet the basic requirements and whether that exact configuration is still needed.
  4. Schedule the appointment. Prototype development is completed at Vertical Doors, Inc. in Lake Elsinore, California.
  5. Receive written confirmation. Pricing, the estimated three-to-four-week development period, delivery and pickup requirements, and vehicle-specific terms must be confirmed before the appointment.
