VDCCHEVYCORZLRC820home combines the genuine Vertical Doors, Inc. VDCCHEVYCORZLRC820 ZLR Door Conversion Kit with eligible professional mobile installation.
One ZLR kit and mobile-installation package covers the confirmed Corvette C8 Stingray, Z06, E-Ray, ZR1, ZR1X, Grand Sport and Grand Sport X applications below.
A ZLR Door Conversion moves the original Corvette door outward and upward diagonally in one smooth, continuous motion. The movement is similar in appearance to the door operation seen on vehicles such as the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, some McLaren models and the BMW i8.
ZLR works differently from a traditional Vertical Door or Lambo Door Conversion Kit. A traditional system opens outward on the horizontal plane first, stops, and then raises on the vertical plane. The ZLR system combines the outward and upward movement into one diagonal opening motion.
With the doors closed, the Corvette C8 keeps its clean factory-style appearance. When opened, the ZLR movement gives the Corvette a more exotic door operation while retaining the original doors.
Bring the ZLR Installation Experience to Your Corvette
The Corvette C8 already has the low roofline, wide body and mid-engine proportions people associate with exotic cars. ZLR adds a single diagonal door movement that works naturally with that shape.
This package gives eligible customers a professional installation at an approved location without bringing the Corvette to our Lake Elsinore, California facility.
Fitment approval and mobile-service approval are separate. Your Corvette must match a confirmed application, and the installation address, workspace, vehicle condition, installer routing and schedule must also qualify.
Before making travel, event, hotel or other time-sensitive plans, confirm the installation location and appointment with Vertical Doors, Inc.

Where Is Mobile Installation Available?
Mobile installation is available only at eligible locations in the contiguous United States. Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico are excluded.
Availability depends on the vehicle, installation address, suitable work area, installer routing and scheduling. Vehicle fitment does not automatically guarantee mobile-service availability.
Call 951-245-8669 or submit an Installation Options Request with the Corvette model, model year, ZIP code, modification information and current vehicle photographs.
What Does the Installer Need at Your Location?
The installation does not have to take place at your house. An approved home, business, automotive shop, private workspace or another suitable location may be used.
The installer needs safe vehicle access and enough room to remove body panels, support and open the doors, work around both sides of the Corvette and complete the required adjustments.
Tell Vertical Doors, Inc. before scheduling if the location has gated access, parking restrictions, limited workspace, a steep driveway, restricted vehicle access or another condition that may affect the installation.
Tell Us About Vehicle Modifications Before Scheduling
Modifications or previous body repair can change the installation requirements. Tell us before scheduling if the Corvette has:
- Aftermarket or replacement fenders
- Widebody components or modified bodywork
- Previous collision repair near the door or fender area
- Air-bag suspension
- Large aftermarket wheels or unusual tire fitment
- A previous vertical-door or hinge conversion
- Other body or suspension changes that may affect clearance
How Does the Corvette C8 ZLR System Work?
The ZLR conversion replaces the factory hinge assemblies while retaining the original Corvette doors.
As the converted door opens, the ZLR hinge guides it outward and upward diagonally in one continuous motion. The ZLR door does not open rearward.
Correct hinge position, gas-shock adjustment, wiring clearance, latch alignment, door travel and surrounding panel clearance are important for proper operation.
ZLR vs. traditional Vertical Doors: ZLR uses one continuous diagonal outward-and-upward motion. The traditional Corvette C8 Vertical Door system opens outward first and then raises vertically.
What Happens During the Mobile Installation?
The installer removes the body panels required for access, safely supports the original door, records its position, removes the factory hinge assemblies and installs the vehicle-specific Vertical Doors, Inc. ZLR system.
The installation includes wiring-clearance work, required non-visible clearance work, gas-shock installation, hinge adjustment, door and latch alignment and operational testing.
Door movement, hinge travel, gas-shock operation, latch engagement, wiring clearance and surrounding panel gaps are checked before the installation is considered complete.
Does ZLR Installation Require Modification?
Yes. The ZLR system is vehicle-specific and uses the Corvette's factory hinge mounting area, but vehicle-specific does not mean modification-free.
- The original Corvette doors are retained.
- Body-panel removal is required for installation access.
- Non-visible trimming or clearance work may be required for proper hinge and door movement.
- Wiring must have enough movement and clearance throughout the complete ZLR door path.
- Hinge travel, gas-shock operation, latch engagement, wiring clearance and door alignment must be checked.
Why Choose the Vertical Doors, Inc. ZLR System?
Vertical Doors, Inc. has manufactured vehicle-specific door conversion systems for more than 20 years. The included VDCCHEVYCORZLRC820 system was developed for the Corvette C8 platform. It is not adapted from a universal hinge.
- One confirmed ZLR application across the supported Corvette C8 family
- Original Corvette doors are retained
- Vehicle-specific factory hinge mounting locations are used
- Made in the USA
- Domestic hardened steel used for the main hinge components
- Professional mobile installation for eligible customers and locations
- Technical support directly from Vertical Doors, Inc.
Windows Valet notice: Windows Valet is not included with this ZLR package and is no longer supplied by Vertical Doors, Inc. Contact the accessory manufacturer directly to research current compatibility and availability.
