The traditional Vertical Doors, Inc. system opens the door outward first. After the door reaches the hinge system's stopping point, it can be raised vertically.

How Does the Corvette C8 ZLR System Work?
The ZLR conversion replaces the factory hinge assemblies while retaining the original Corvette doors.
As the converted door opens, the ZLR hinge guides it outward and upward diagonally in one continuous motion. Correct hinge position, gas-shock adjustment, wiring clearance, latch alignment, door travel and surrounding panel clearance are important for proper operation.
Because ZLR uses a different door path than the traditional Vertical Door Kit, its installation and adjustment procedures are specific to the ZLR hinge system.
