How the VDI Vertical Door Kit Operates
The traditional VDI Vertical Door Kit allows each front door to open outward first. After reaching its designed outward stopping point, the door raises vertically. The initial outward movement provides entry clearance and allows the doors to be used normally when there is not enough overhead space to raise them.
A proper installation requires door measurements, careful hinge positioning, wiring management, inner-fender clearance, latch alignment, consistent body gaps, and repeated testing of the complete door movement. The installer should also explain how to open and lower the doors correctly before returning the vehicle to the customer.
