Heinz’s 2025 Chevrolet Corvette C8 E-Ray Convertible with Vertical Doors

Heinz returned to Vertical Doors, Inc. with his gray 2025 Chevrolet Corvette C8 E-Ray after bringing us his C7 back in 2018. This time, the Arizona Corvette enthusiast chose a VDCCHEVYCORC823Z06 Vertical Door Conversion Kit for his E-Ray hardtop convertible.

The blue-and-black interior is easy to see with the roof retracted and doors raised. Silver five-spoke wheels, red brake calipers and dark lower aero pieces add contrast to the gray body in the photos outside our Lake Elsinore, California facility.

From a C7 in 2018 to a C8 E-Ray

Heinz was already familiar with our work when he returned with the E-Ray. His earlier C7 installation dates back to 2018, making this another chapter in his time with the Vertical Doors, Inc. Family.

His gray convertible has its own combination of details. The silver wheels and red calipers are visible from the low front angles, while the side views show the blue seats and open cabin with the hardtop retracted.

Original Corvette Doors, Different Hinge Movement

The conversion retains the original door shells and uses vehicle-specific replacement hinges. Each door opens outward first, reaches the hinge system’s stopping point, and can then be raised vertically with gas-shock assistance.

On a correctly installed and adjusted system, raising the door is optional for normal entry and exit. The initial outward movement can be used on its own. This traditional VDI conversion is also commonly called a Lambo Door Kit or Scissor Door Kit.

The current E-Ray application covers 2024-2026. Z06 coverage is listed separately because the models do not share the same starting model year.

Heinz returned to our Lake Elsinore facility for this installation. Proper installation includes fender removal, non-visible hinge-clearance trimming, wiring checks and adjustment of door alignment, stops and latches.
