The video shows this C8 Z06 Coupe with its removable targa-style roof panel off and both doors raised. The open roof gives a clear view of the black and white cockpit while the raised doors frame the Corvette's wide body and low profile.
Black wheels, bright green brake calipers, a large rear wing, and visible front aero add to the build's aggressive appearance. The gray exterior keeps the body lines easy to see from the front, side, and rear views shown outside the Vertical Doors, Inc. facility.
The conversion does not replace the factory Corvette doors. The original doors remain on the car while the factory hinges are replaced with the vehicle-specific Vertical Doors, Inc. hinge system.
How the Corvette C8 Vertical Door Kit Works
The traditional Vertical Doors, Inc. system uses a two-stage door movement. Open the Corvette door outward until it reaches the hinge system's stopping point. From there, raise the door vertically. The included gas shock assists with the weight of the door during the upward movement.
The door does not have to be raised every time someone enters or exits the Corvette. The initial outward opening provides room for normal entry and exit before the door is lifted. Many owners also refer to this conversion as a Scissor Door Kit or Lambo Door Kit, but the outward-then-up movement is an important part of how the VDI system operates.
