Vertical Doors for Your RAM 1500 Build
The RAM 1500's broad front end, tall cab and large doors give owners plenty to work with on a custom truck. Raising the front doors changes its profile at a truck show or photo shoot and gives you another detail to build around alongside your wheels, stance and bodywork.
VDCRAM19 changes the hinge system while keeping the original front doors, glass and interior panels. The outward-then-up movement becomes part of the finished build without replacing the factory door shells.

How the RAM 1500 Vertical Door Conversion Works
Open the converted front door outward to the hinge system's designed stopping point, then raise it vertically. The gas shock assists the upward movement. To close the door, lower it completely before moving it inward.
Correct installation and adjustment allow the door, latch, wiring and surrounding panels to work together throughout the opening and closing movement.
Installation Requirements
VDCRAM19 uses a vehicle-specific hinge mounting design. Bolt-on does not mean modification-free. Installation involves access to the factory hinge area, door support and alignment, wiring management, and the trimming or clearance work identified in the supplied instructions.
- Record the factory door position and panel gaps before removing the original hinges.
- Protect the paint, glass, trim and wiring, and keep each door securely supported.
- Follow the VDCRAM19 instructions for panel removal, hardware, shock installation, stops and adjustments.
- Check latch operation, wiring movement, weather sealing and panel clearance before driving.
An experienced automotive builder may be able to complete the installation. If door alignment, body-panel removal, trimming or wiring clearance is outside your experience, choose a qualified installer.
