Ryan’s Blue Chevrolet Corvette C8 E-Ray Coupe with Vertical Doors | Lake Elsinore

Ryan from Threadkraze brought his blue Chevrolet Corvette C8 E-Ray to Vertical Doors, Inc. in Lake Elsinore, California for a Vertical Door Conversion Kit installation. The coupe received the VDCCHEVYCORC823Z06 system, retaining its original doors and adding the traditional outward-then-upward movement.

Black five-spoke wheels and yellow brake calipers stand out against the blue body. The dark interior, side skirts and rear spoiler keep the rest of the combination simple while the raised doors become the main feature.

Blue Bodywork and Yellow Calipers

The side view puts Ryan’s wheel and brake combination in clear view. The black wheel finish leaves the yellow calipers easy to spot, while the blue door panels carry the body color upward when the doors are raised.

The front and rear-quarter photos show the completed conversion outside our facility. The original door shells remain on the car, with the VDI hinge system controlling their outward opening and vertical lift.

How the E-Ray Vertical Doors Work

The door opens outward to the hinge system’s designed stopping point before it can be raised vertically. A gas shock assists with the upward movement. The system does not automatically open the door.

On a correctly installed and adjusted kit, the initial outward opening can be used for normal entry and exit. Owners commonly refer to this system as a Vertical Door Kit, Lambo Door Kit or Scissor Door Kit.

The E-Ray uses VDCCHEVYCORC823Z06. The standard Stingray kit, VDCCHEVYCORC820, is not the E-Ray application.

Ryan’s installation was completed at Vertical Doors, Inc. in Lake Elsinore, California. The work includes fender removal, non-visible trimming for hinge clearance, wiring checks and adjustment of the doors, stops and latches.
