How the Corvette C8 Vertical Door Conversion Works

The Vertical Doors, Inc. conversion replaces the factory hinge system while retaining the original Corvette doors. Each door opens outward first to provide entry and exit room. From there, the door can be lifted vertically, with the vehicle-specific gas shock assisting the upward movement.

The doors do not have to be raised every time the car is driven. That outward-first movement is useful for regular entry and exit, while the raised position gives the mid-engine C8 a strong show, meet and photo-shoot presentation.

This is a vehicle-specific bolt-on hinge conversion, but bolt-on does not mean modification-free. Proper installation includes fender removal, non-visible clearance trimming, wiring management, hinge adjustment, door alignment and final operational checks.

A Stingray equipped with a widebody kit, air-bag suspension or wheels measuring 21 inches or larger uses VDCCHEVYCORC823Z06.
