A Corvette with a Personal Story
Gary’s interest in cars started with a 1942 Ford he bought as a teenager. Decades and many vehicles later, this C8 became his favorite. His Corvette story includes Museum delivery, long road trips and time spent meeting other enthusiasts at shows.
When this build was originally featured, Gary reported more than 38,000 miles and 27 car-show trophies. Those numbers describe that point in his ownership story, along with a car he continued to personalize and enjoy.
Graphics, Wheels and Vertical Doors
The graphics extend across the hood and doors, while the red-and-black wheel finish ties into the body and interior. The large rear wing and dark lower aero pieces give the coupe a different profile from a standard Stingray.
With the doors raised, the graphics remain part of the display rather than disappearing from view. The side and rear-quarter photos also show the original Corvette door shells and how they sit above the cabin.

How the Vertical Doors Work
A traditional VDI hinge conversion keeps the original doors. Each door opens outward to the system’s designed stopping point and can then be raised vertically with gas-shock assistance.
Correct installation involves fender removal, non-visible clearance trimming, wiring checks, hinge adjustment and door alignment. The terms Vertical Door Kit, Lambo Door Kit and Scissor Door Kit are commonly used for this outward-then-upward system.
