Edgar selected two upgrades that change the Corvette from different viewing angles. The vertical-door conversion changes the way the original doors open, while the Type-ZR1 hood adds exposed carbon-fiber construction and a more aggressive front profile.
The door conversion is also commonly called a Vertical Door Kit, Vertical Lambo Door Kit, Lambo Door Kit, or Scissor Door Kit. It is a vehicle-specific system, not a generic universal hinge.
How the Corvette C8 Vertical Door Kit Works
The traditional VDI system uses a two-stage movement. Open the Corvette door outward until it reaches the hinge system's designed stopping point. From there, raise the door vertically. The included gas shock assists with the door's weight during the upward movement.
The door does not have to be raised every time someone enters or exits the Corvette. The initial outward opening provides room for normal entry and exit before the door is lifted.

The Z06, E-Ray, ZR1, ZR1X, Grand Sport, and Grand Sport X also use VDCCHEVYCORC823Z06.
