1. Disconnect the battery.
2. Remove the fender.
3. Remove the door catch if equipped.
4. Get more wire slack if needed. Remove the door panel or kick plate if required. Do not cut factory wires unless you have no other choice.
5. Use 2 inch painters tape to mark the factory door location on the vertical and horizontal planes. Also measure the distance between the apron and the front edge of the door by the top and bottom hinge.
6. Close the door and use 2 inch painters tape to secure the door to the body.
7. Install the new kit. Make sure you have a flat mounting surface. If needed, modify the apron for proper fit.

Use a high quality automotive or marine grease designed for a grease gun. Lucas Heavy Duty Grease or Green Grease are good options. Inject grease into the zerk fittings on the hinge and the shock end fitting. Under normal use, lubricate about once every 1 to 2 years, and more often if the vehicle spends a lot of time outside.

Grease hinge zerk fittings as recommended. If fittings are difficult to access, use WD 40 or a similar spray lubricant to coat the pivot area. Lubricate the shock bearing as needed. Start with a cleaner lubricant like WD 40 to flush debris, then follow with white lithium grease for longer lasting lubrication.
