The production version of the IS was introduced at the North American International Auto Show in January 2013.

The revamped third generation model includes updated headlamps, taillamps, front fascia and hood. It debuted at the April 2016.

The IS received a major makeover in 2020 for the 2021 model year.
All 3 Versions of the Third generation XE30 Lexus IS use the same Chassis.
